The iLocate™ solution’s active tag product family is termed Smart Agents. It was designed to answer the increasing need for wireless connected agents traveling throughout the supply chain floor, connected and controlled from a central location to increase real-time data availability, automation and communication.
The Smart Agent tags are equipped with a strong on-board processor, 2-way data communications capabilities and as many as 20 interfaces to external devices (8 digital, 7 analog, 1 RS232 and 4 dry-contact ports).
The Smart Agent Tags are battery powered and typically have a battery life expectancy of four to six years. As all tag software parameters are programmable over the air, it is virtually a zero-maintenance device, built to exploit the investment in active technology to its fullest.
The Smart Agent can be given a wide array of tasks. It can monitor an external sensor for parameters such as weight, temperature, humidity and light.
It can report movement or the cessation of movement using its integrated motion sensor. Even acceleration (and thus speed) can be measured.
The tags can be connected to a machine or other external controller to start/ stop a process remotely or to control external functionality without the need to install an additional stand-alone system. The tags can also interact with personnel, sending light or sound signals to alert employees, or receive a key-pad input from a user and transmit it to the center, combined with the tag’s ID and location, creating a wireless, event-based, internal intercom system.
